About Sri vana duraga parameshwari temple
Durga is generally worshiped towards North or West. But it is special to bless Vanaturg here in a separate temple towards the east. It is a special feature of this goddess that she shows two mudras like Abaya Hastam and Varadam while leaning on her right hand which cannot be seen in any other goddess. It is special that pearls of sweat appear on the palm of Ambal's right hand when performing archan to her.

History & Legend
The demons troubled not only Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu but also thirty-three crore Devas. They ruled over seven worlds according to their whims. Because of this, the Trimurtis and Devas conducted a grand sacrifice seeking the grace of Adi Parashakti. During that sacrifice, Devi emerged from the fire altar, and soon the story of Mahishasura, Chumban, Nishumban, Pandan, and their defeat would come to an end. As the mother of Parashakti, she incarnates as a young girl playing in the streams of the mountain in the Parvatha Sarala of the earth. She becomes Ambikai, Devadhi Devarkal's consort, and with her power combined, she transforms into Durga, destroying the demons and protecting the Devas. All the Devas bow to her and say:"
+" Namaste! Saranye Shive Sanukampe!"
+"Namaste! Jagatvyaapike Vishwaroope!"
+"Namaste! Jagadvyandhya Padharavinde!"
+"Namaste! Jagatdhaari Nithraahi Durge...!"
+"Praised, they began to praise her. After ending the deficiency of the gods, she became independent and began penance, considering the welfare of the world. That place is now called Kathiramangalam.
