History & Legend

Due to the presence of a snake outside during the flood (snake - fear), the name 'Thiruppurambayam' was given. Other names include 'Kalyana Managar' and Punnagavalam'. When the floodwaters came, there was fear due to the presence of the snake, hence the name 'Thiruppurambayam'. A girl from the merchant community named Irathinavalli, who had decided to marry her husband, came to this village before getting married to him. At that time, her husband was bitten by a snake and died, so she wrote a letter to him. " +"Thirunjanasambandar recited Thirupathigam and married him to Irathinavalli. God stood as a witness. Because of this, he was named 'Satchinathar' to God. Hence the forest tree is also a witness. The forest tree is in the second category, and it is mentioned in the history told by Satchi, in the Thiruvilayadal Puranam, and in the Talapuranam.
