Sri Kalahasteeswarar Temple

In many major temples, there are shrines dedicated to Jwarahareswarar. However, it is noteworthy that in this temple, Jwarahareswarar has three forms. He is depicted holding two legs below, lying down, and manifesting only in the morning. The diseases related to bones, skin, and nerves are said to be caused by him. By worshipping him, the diseases caused by these three factors are believed to be cured. This deity is anointed with sacred water. In this ritual, Siva Suryan (Sun God) is present facing east. Inside the shrine of Nadarajar, there is a magnificent statue. Around it, Sivakami Amman and Manikkavasagar bless the devotees. This is also considered as one of the temples on the Maha Magha Theerthavari route.

The dispute arose as to who is superior between Adiseshan and Vayu Bhagavan. Adiseshan favored Merumalai, while Vayu Bhagavan wanted to move it. In this dispute, the three peaks of Meru Mountain are mentioned. They descended to the South. They are called Kalathimai Hill, Thiruchirapalli Hill, and Trigona Hill respectively. Here, Lord Shiva intervened and resolved the dispute. It is named as Kalahasthi. Since Kumbakonam is a sacred city, Lord Shiva also resolved the dispute here. Just as in Kalahasthi, here too Kalahasthi resolves the Rahu dosha. Kanchi Sankaracharya built this temple for the benefit of his disciples. If one visits this temple during the Nyanaprakalambika, they will receive the benefits as they would at Kalahasthi.
