Lord Kaakum Katavul: In this temple, which stands alongside the Rajagopuram, Lord Swami is present with his divine weapons. He holds a bow, arrow, sword, and trident in his hands. He is adorned with a crown, and a water vessel is placed above his head. The Goddess is seated on a lotus flower throne. He is also known by the names "Ganga Veeran" and "Ganga Veereshwarar." Ganga holds significant importance among the nine rivers. The name derives from the fact that he served as a guardian to the rivers that flow nearby, protecting them from harm. Special Pradosha Puja is performed in front of Swami's sanctum. <b>Thakkayagapparani Arangkatram:</b> In the court of the Chola king, there was a treasurer named Ottakoothar. He was a devotee of Veerapathirar and once, in the temple of Kumbakonam, he offered his services by melting some gold in a furnace. Impressed by the devotion of Veerapathirar, Ottakoothar wrote a book called "Thakkayagapparani." This book was written before the consecration of Veerapathirar's sanctum. Another book titled "Parani" is written about the victory achieved by the devotee, hence the name "Thakkayagapparani." Ottakoothar, as a mark of respect, offers his prayers in front of Swami's sanctum. During the festival of Uttradam in the month of Avani, Guru Puja is performed for him.Navakanniyaar and Silai: The statues of the Nine Maidens are present in the temple complex. On the day of Magha Magam, when the devotees come to take a dip in the Mahamakulakkarai, Veerapathirar blesses them before they enter the temple. At that time, Veerapathirar performs worship to the archakas (temple priests) and then to Kumbeswarar. This worship is considered auspicious. Murganayanar, who served in the temple, offered his services by melting some gold in this temple. He has a separate sanctum here. During the Kartikai constellation, his Guru Puja is performed.

In the nine rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada, Saraswati, Kaveri, Godavari, Tungabhadra, Krishna and Sarayu, the sins of the devotees drowned and they became sad. They went to Kailayam and appealed to Lord Shiva to reduce their burden of sins. Accepting this, Lord Shiva asked him to bathe in the Mahamaga Tirtha on the day of Mahamagatha and get rid of his sins. Accordingly Navanadis also came to this place.
