Here Lord Shiva graces us as Swayambumurthi

In the land of Thirihardha, Annadhvar attained Siddhiyarthi. His son, Suruchi, was cursed to become a ghost due to a curse. Fleeing from the sight of his own form, he ran into the village. When people who ran at the sight of him saw himself fleeing, they sought Lord Shiva's refuge to be protected from him. According to his grace's advice, he went to a place called Kottaioor to worship. He also took a dip in the sacred water here. This water body was created by two saints. It is called Amudhakinari. It is said that bathing in this water can make one more beautiful than before. Even now, this water body exists here. Many believe that by bathing in this water, they can attain a beautiful form by washing their heads with the water from this pond.
