History & Legend
In the magical Ramayana, there comes a devotee of Lord Rama. On the day he was supposed to embark on his journey to seek Lord Shiva's blessings, due to enmity, he sought Sugriva, who was in search of Shukracharya. With great valor, he approached Vali. Being extremely brave, Vali took the form of an anaconda and wrapped himself around Mount Anjanam, protecting himself from Sugriva. He then sought refuge with Lord Rama, who graciously protected him. At that moment, Shiva-Pran placed Shukracharya under the protection of the divine tree (Coral Jasmine tree), transforming him into another tree, to safeguard him."
+" Having averted the danger for Shukracharya, Shiva-Pran bestowed upon him the title of being protected. Hence, Lord Shiva is known as the one who protects from danger and adversity. The divine name of his mother is bestowed as Prabalavalli and Pavala Kodai."
+" This incident occurs during the Chitra month's 5th, 6th, and 7th days, when the rays of the sun, as a part of the Surya Puja, are reflected in the direction opposite to the temple's presence, ultimately falling on Lord Shiva.
