The child born to the Vaishnava family in Kanchanur was named Sudharsanar. Despite being born into a Vaishnava family, the child shone brightly in devotion to Lord Shiva. The villagers were surprised to see the child sitting on an iron statue with a trident in hand and repeatedly chanting 'Shivame Paramporul.' This incident was witnessed by many and is a well-known part of the history of this village. This spectacle is also depicted in the temples of Perumal, Agneeswarar, and Nadarajar Sannidhi. In the temple of Perumal, Agneeswarar, and Karpagambal, the trident of Haradathar, who imparted teachings to Adi Shankaracharya, is also present. Haradathar was given the name by Sudharsanar and performed the initiation ceremony of the Siva Nama." +" Once, a devotee brought food as an offering to Agneeswarar every day. However, one day, Agneeswarar did not appear in his dream. Confused, the devotee visited Haradathar, and upon investigation, they found that a poor Brahmin had bought a ploughshare with borrowed money and could not afford to buy food. Haradathar realized the greatness of Haradathar and bowed to him in respect. The family of Haradathar, along with the idol of the Lord who came to visit the poor, is present in the temple. When Haradathar visits the Swami shrine, a devotee named Surai Kay Bakthar is seen with his wife. " +" One devotee who joined this village brought a ploughshare as an offering but made a mistake in placing it, causing the cow to die. Because of this, the Brahmins distanced themselves from him, thinking that he had committed a sin. He did not know what to do and approached Haradathar. Haradathar told him to offer a Shiva Pancharakshara and taught him how to do it. When asked about this, Haradathar said that chanting the Shiva Pancharakshara would remove the obstacle. Brahmins were convinced and invited him back to reexamine his birth chart. Immediately, Haradathar called the Brahmin, took him to the Cauvery, and asked him to take a handful of mud and give it to the Brahmins." +" Brahmins also did the same, saying, 'If the cow is poisoned, the Shiva Pancharakshara will remove the poison.' Thus, they were convinced, and the history states that the Brahmins then gave the plough back to him.
