History & Legend
Mandhagiri Mountain turned into a snake named Vasuki. The gods and demons churned the ocean to obtain nectar. Vasuki, being the rope for churning, released its venom into the ocean. Due to the venom's potency, neither gods nor demons could handle it and sought Lord Shiva's intervention. Lord Shiva advised them to seek Lord Ganesha's assistance before undertaking any action. Thus, they approached Lord Ganesha and requested his help. Lord Ganesha advised them to use a sea snake as a rope and provided them with a form. After churning the ocean with the sea snake, they obtained the nectar and rejoiced. Due to the presence of the nectarous sea snake in the ocean, Lord Ganesha was named Swetha Vinayaka (White Vinayaka). As a result of the gods' efforts, this form of Lord Ganesha emerged, and he graciously accepts the worship of the gods, fulfilling their desires.
